Reigning Sabalenka Secures Consecutive WTA Top Player Honors.
The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second successive year.
The 27-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – which included successfully defending the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship.
A Season of High Performance
Across the season, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine finals, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The Belarusian also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the entire year as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.
This past summer, she became the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.
Historic Numbers
Sabalenka finished the season with a 63-12 match record, and picked up a record £11m in earnings.
She received nearly 80% of the votes cast by global tennis journalists.
On 28 December, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence".
Additional WTA Award Winners
- Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking 13-month break following the arrival of her daughter and returning to the sport earlier this season.
- Rookie of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after beginning the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and climbing to world number 18.
- Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after winning their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
- Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five championship matches.
Recently, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted fans' favourite for a third time.
