League Commissioner Adam Silver 'Disturbed' over Arrests
Addressing the detentions for the first time, league head Silver stated he was "very upset" by the events of the past few days.
"There's nothing more important to the league and supporters than the fairness of the game," he informed Amazon Prime. "Therefore I felt uneasy. It was very upsetting."
The commissioner also mentioned an NBA investigation into the player's actions in spring 2023, when there was "aberrational betting" in a match he played for the Hornets versus the New Orleans Pelicans, found nothing untoward.
"We were informed by the regulators and the gambling firms," he continued.
"We investigated the matter and were very transparent about it. And while there was the unusual wagering, we, honestly, couldn't find anything.
"The federal government has legal authority... [it] can threaten to put people in jail, can do all kinds of things that the NBA is unable to.
"So, we've been cooperating from that point. And, of course, what they revealed recently was an indictment.
"And 30 months after, he has not been found guilty of anything, in fairness to Rozier.
"Clearly, it appears unfavorable, but he's been suspended, and so it is a balance here between protecting people's rights and conducting an inquiry."
