Eulogies Pour In for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community persist in remembering the pair.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt prepared to express about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has passed that I can finally articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began spending more time together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the production, adding that he could not remember "any day without mirth".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the perfect person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator
In a different tribute, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the lead role.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Sealed
This week, a Los Angeles court official agreed to bar the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A court order placed a restriction on the investigation to limit the public release of "related notes, evidence and photographs" connected to the active case.
The relevant authority had already determined their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a official listing citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
After the deaths, public individuals offered different responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, making divisive claims that were broadly criticized by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his perspective to the detractors recently. Conversing on his show, Rogan characterized the statements as "disturbing" and implied they demonstrated a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by remarking that an adviser should have intervened when the choice to speak on the death was made.
