Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities confirmed on late Wednesday. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on Monday, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his team members.
Healing from Light Wounds
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the passing of his two dear friends.”
